Hey Tom , could you do a video on pregnant fish please. I'm not sure if one of my goldfish is over weight or pregnant

This is actually a topic we want to cover. Breeding is a subject that raises many questions for most aquarists. Unfortunately it can range greatly from species to species so it is tough to cover it all in a single video. We will find a way to tackle it though!

Thomas B maybe run a poll somewhere of what fish the viewers keep and start with the most common?

      Reply
    3. Thomas B

Well, its more than just which species to do, but how to group them! We don't want to do 100 videos when we might be able to do 25 because so many fish have similar breeding habits [live bearers for example]. Once we get it all sorted, we will start knocking them out one at a time ๐Ÿ™‚

Short answer: not that hard at all really, and there is no minimum size per say, however certain fish species will require a specific size aquarium. You can start as small as 20 gallons comfortably. Have you seen our Saltwater series? We have a video series where I set up a 20 gallon super simple saltwater tank. Reefing is a different story. Reef keeping can get a lot more involved.

LOL at that ugly nightmare…I've seen tanks that look like a scuba diving class. I experimented some with putting hoses in driftwood, seems to help. But I dunno, all those big and little bubbles give the tank texture! Entertains your fish!

It is impossible to say without testing it, however, if it isn't crystal clear out of the tap, you can be pretty certain it has unwanted elements in it and shouldn't be used directly for an aquarium. Again though, testing the water will be the best way to tell.

Does moss balls help make a tank much clearer cause I got 7 and the people at pets smart told me they did plz say if this is true

In my experience, no. They won't help with clarity, however, they will absorb excess nutrients in the water which could result in lower phosphate and nitrate levels in your tank ๐Ÿ™‚

Air stones are unnecessary. Air pumps are loud and annoying. I don't use any air ornaments or stones I hate all the noise that air pumps make.
