The Puro 3 Professional Gravity Filter by Cobalt Pond is an advanced modular filtration system designed with the koi pond and water garden hobbyist in mind. Easy to assemble, hide and maintain, it delivers powerful multi-stage filtration to produce healthy, crystal clear water for your koi and goldfish. State-of-the-art pylomer technology was used in fabrication, making the Italian-made Puro 3 shock and UV resistant. Able to stand up to hits without cracking, and handle prolonged exposure to the sun's rays, this impressive system is built to last.
The Puro 3 comes preloaded with an optimal combination of highly effective filter media. Each media type is housed in its own basket which can be accessed and removed independently even while the system is running. Convenient basket handles help keep your hands clean and dry for mess-free maintenance. The Puro 3 holds three small single media baskets and three large double media baskets. It comes stocked with the following media:
Pre-Filter Brushes (Mechanical) - These tough nylon-bristled brushes filter out larger debris such as gravel, leaves, and algae filaments before it has a chance to reach and clog the finer biological filter media.
Kinshi Sponge (Mechanical/Biological) - This unique filter media is designed specifically for filtering koi and goldfish ponds. This innovative material screens out larger particulates that pass through the nylon pre-filter brushes. The exclusive low density mesh design is highly resistant to blockage, while providing an abundance of surface area for the cultivation of bacterial colonies.
Filter Sponge (Mechanical/Biological) - Before being reintroduced into your pond, the water passes through a fine filter sponge which captures smaller waste particles for a final "polish". The sponge also provides additional surface area for the cultivation of bacterial colonies, further enhancing the size and effectiveness of the biological filter.
Bio-Globes (Biological) - These spherically-shaped "bio-balls" are specifically designed to provide optimal surface area for the cultivation of beneficial bacterial colonies. Their advanced design allows the polypropylene globes to "squish" without reducing water flow through the media.
Finishing Pad (Mechanical) - The finest filtering sponge and the final stage of particulate removal in the Puro system, the Finishing Pad traps the smallest particles for the ultimate sparkling polish.
The Puro 3 Professional Gravity Filter includes plumbing accessories, making connection to your main pond pump a breeze. It also includes a 3-year manufacturer's warranty for quality assurance and piece of mind. Suitable for ponds up to 4,000 gallons in size. For best results, Cobalt Pond recommends that the Puro 3 be used with the Cascade 4500 pump.
