Comments about Aqualight H.O. T-5 Dual Lamp Fixture - 24":

I'm really impressed at the quality of these lights. Also with 2 fixtures you almost have the same amount of wattage as 2 65w CFL's. I'm using 2 fixtures on a 37 high tank. It was my lowest cost highest output option. I hope Coralife continues to make these great products.

Great Light for a nano reef aquarium. I have used the light for about 3 months and I have a wide variety of corals growing under it. It does not have fans but it does not get hot enough to need them. Good for anyone looking for a good light at a great price. A++

Comments about Aqualight H.O. T-5 Dual Lamp Fixture - 24":

I have this on a mixed saltwater tank. It's great because it produce 31 watts per bulb for a total of 62 watts. That's great for a 29 gallon tank. The light fixture itself is handsome. It seems to dissipate heat well. My only complaint is that it doesn't come in a 4 tube model so you'll need 2 fixtures for corals, anemones. I won't hesitate to buy a second one while waiting for LED's to be perfected.

You will need to switch the bulbs to 6,500-6,700K and instead of the actinic bulb you can use a roseate or colormax bulb.

I have a 60"x15"x15" open top aquarium, filled with water up to 10-12". Would a 48" fixture be long enough so it won't cast significant shadows in the corner, or would 2x 30" fixtures be better?

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Two 30" fixture would work best as having a 48" fixture centered would cause shadows on each end.

                A:

It can support most soft corals and some LPS corals. Because it is only a dual and not a quad system it will be important that you place corals at their correct height to ensure they get enough light. You are limited on what you can keep but this is a good system for soft corals.

You will have best results replaceing the actinic (blue) bulb with one better suited for plants, such as a roseate bulb, or another daylight bulb ranging from 6000k to 6700k.
