      Yes, this can be used for a freshwater aquarium. It can be also used for marine aquariums too but would not provide any buffer capacity.

    hi, do you know if this sand is safe to use for bottom dwellers, like corydoras. If the sand is sharp, their barbels will get worn out.

      This sand should be safe as Estes products are clear coated. Another choice may be oolitic or oolite sand but it will raise your pH and water hardness.
